Kaolack Creations — Textiles from Africa & the Diaspora

We weave a living link between Africa and its diasporas — honoring the original textiles of our peoples, their techniques, their materials, their symbols, and their creative dignity.

We are Sokhna and Mélissa. Kaolack Créations was born from a simple conviction: African fashion is told not by what has been imposed, but by what belongs to us. We choose to celebrate what comes from us — what bears the names, colors, rhythms, and gestures of our peoples.

Our anchor is Kemet, the original African name of the continent. A reminder: Africa was named before it was renamed. We do not claim a "return" — but a continuity. We move forward with what has been transmitted, and what our generation chooses to accomplish.

We work with African and Afro-descendant artisans: weavers, bogolan masters, indigo dyers, tailors, designers. Each piece is the result of living and recognized expertise, not an printed motif on polyester from elsewhere.

We do not work with industrial wax fabric. Its history and structure are not ours. We respect those who wear it, but we make a different choice: to honor and revive native African fabrics: Mali bogolan, Manjak cloth, Kente, Faso Dan Fani, Bamanan indigo (galafini), Kuba/Kasaï velvet, Baoulé textiles, Yacouba… and soon other Afro-descendant heritages, including Caribbean.

Our house moves at the rhythm of workshops, thread, sun, plant fermentation, iron-rich mud, breathing indigo. No industrial pace. No forgetting. To create here is to transmit. To wear Kaolack is to walk in continuity.
