The Kaarta skirt in Malian Bogolan is a midi skirt with a marked high waist, designed as a statement piece. The line is structured. The cut, precise.
It hugs the silhouette without restricting it. The waist is well-defined, the hips are embraced, and the leg is elongated. The drape remains fluid thanks to a rather flexible bogolan, lined with cotton.
Kaarta can be worn all year round. The cotton provides breathability and comfort, while the lining ensures a neat look throughout the seasons.
Cut & style
The pencil cut is balanced by a back slit, designed to allow ease of walking and comfort when seated.
- Midi skirt
- High and marked waist
- Close-fitting cut, without rigidity
- Back slit for freedom of movement
- Feminine model
Kaarta is not a basic skirt. It structures an outfit on its own.
Consult our size guide to find the perfect fit.
How to style it
This skirt is designed to be paired with more understated pieces, allowing the bogolan to fully express itself.
For tops, it works particularly well with:
- a crisp, structured white shirt
- a black shirt, for a strong contrast
- a plain top, close-fitting or slightly loose
For a complete bogolan outfit, pair it with our black & white bogolan jacket or our women's bogolan tunic.
For shoes, several options are possible:
- heels for a strong silhouette
- sneakers for a more urban and everyday look
- simple sandals in warm weather
To complete your outfit, this skirt pairs perfectly with our cowrie necklaces or our gold cowrie earrings. Add a bogolan Hobo bag for a cohesive look.
The Kaarta skirt adapts to any style, without ever losing its presence.
The bogolan used
The fabric is a Malian bogolan, woven and dyed by hand. The cotton is worked on a wooden loom by traditional weavers. The strips are then assembled and hand-dyed using plant and mineral materials.
The bogolan used for this skirt is selected for its balance: structured enough to maintain the cut, flexible enough to accompany movement.
Each piece presents natural variations. These are an integral part of the textile.
This approach is part of a vision of contemporary African fashion that respects traditional craftsmanship and the values embodied by the Mande Charter.
